Our slogan is: WhiStle Radio. About people you know.  By people you know.

Read our mission statement.

Why are you called WhiStle Radio?
WhiStle is a short-form for Whitchurch-Stouffville.

What will I hear on WhiStle Radio?

The station's programming will be eclectic. From 9am-4pm each day we'll have a music mix that will become a kind of trademark for the station, and will have a large (50%) Canadian Content. At other times we'll have speciality shows - shows that are pitched, developed, produced and hosted by volunteers in the community. The shows will cover a wide spectrum, representing a diversity of views, interests, talents, and ages (you get the idea). WhiStle Radio does not have a "format".

Can I listen to your station now?
We are not on the air and we have not yet set a date for launch. We have make application to the Ontario Trillium Foundation to purchase the necessary equipment. Even that grant will not meet all of our needs; membership sales, sponsorships and fundraising events are critical to our success.

Once the station is operational, revenue will come from fundraising and advertising. We are forecasting that advertising revenue will cover only 25% of total revenue, so fundraising and membership drives will be extremely important.

Currently WhiStle Radio is an internet station. We'll be webcasting our third season of Stouffville Spirit hockey this fall.

What is the CRTC?
The CRTC is the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission. It is an agency of the federal government and is responsible for regulating radio stations, among other things.

Can I pitch a show?
Of course you can! Be sure to read our guidelines. Pitches are reviewed by the Programming Committee.

You do not need specific radio experience, you just need to be committed. Developing a show is hard work, and extremely fun.

Can I volunteer?
Yes! WhiStle Radio has an ongoing need for volunteers. If you would like to volunteer, contact us.
